Uprooting Negative Seeds Before They Harvest

UPROOTING NEGATIVE SEEDS

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” - Proverbs 18:21
*We do not own the rights to this image*

     There’s something deeply effective about negative words that were spoken to you, or about you. Somehow, they seem to ring in your ears long after they were said, always feeling as painful as the first time they were heard. Somehow, their sound carries over the sweet harmonies of the many good words that have been spoken since.
     Today I pondered the story of Eve, and how she must’ve replayed the coy serpent’s words over and over, hating herself for her naivete. How she must’ve cried many nights, remembering his slithering words, and her own moment of weakness.
     It’s amazing that she made the decision that she did, after all that God had given to her. Prior to the Devil planting those seeds, she was in Heaven. She lived in Peace. She walked by Faith. She was literally the woman who had it all- because God was pleased to give it all to her. So how did she mess it all up? Well, as the Holy Spirit told me tonight, it had to do with seed. Satan planted seed in the fertile soil of her mind.
     The serpent whispered in her ear, and she listened. The serpent came, and whispered in her ear, and she believed him. His seeds of doubt- and his bitter, negative words instantly took root in the soil of her mind and produced action. Actions that became a generational curse.

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he”- Proverbs 23:7

    Our thoughts become our actions, and the devil knows this.  All he had to do was plant the seeds, and she did the work of harvesting them. Her split-second decision in the garden led to a lifetime of being separated from the intimate presence of God. Her decision led to the murder of her son. Her decision led to the loss of she and Adam’s inheritance.
     But here’s the thing- Eve is you, Eve is me. Eve is all of us.
       The devil whispers in our ears, trying his best to plant seeds into the soil of our hearts and minds. He wants to ruin a good thing, and he wants our children. He wants our inheritance. He wants us to fail, and for the failure to bring forth much fruit. And perhaps most of all, he wants to separate us from the presence of God, as he has been desperately separated for so long.
       But I was lead to ask you this- will you join me in uprooting negative thoughts before we harvest them? Will you join me in identifying what the devil planted in our minds and allow God to pull them up by the root?
     Pray this aloud with me,
      “Lord, I confess that I have willingly listened when the devil spoke, instead of listening to you. Please forgive me. I do not want to be separated from your presence or bring forth Satan’s wicked fruit! In the name of Jesus, I uproot every negative seed planted in my mind by the enemy! I rebuke the devourer in the name of Jesus! I declare that seeds of hatred, envy, insecurity, inadequacy, rage, low self-esteem, and suicide lose their hold and be uprooted in the name of Jesus!! Lord, please uproot and identify any seed in me that was planted by the devil and let your healing virtue flow through me! I release it now, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
        Remember Eve? The devil is still whispering today, banking on your failure. And still, generations will come, and carry the weight of your decisions. BUT Jesus stands, with outstretched hands, waiting to guide all of us back to the Garden.
       Let the Holy Spirit help you to identify the seed that was planted by the enemy and reveal the patterns of failure in your life that are attached to those seeds. Through this process, Jesus will show you the path to freedom;
        “ If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”- John 8:36

If you are feeling stressed about the future, Take a Moment and Read This.

                                    This could be you! Submitting it all to God really is the best thing you can do!

        I found an old diary entry today; it was dated for ten years ago. In it, I had outlined my to-do’s, my stressors, and my goals. As I read through the pages of those earlier diary entries, I see that I had absolutely no clue what God was going to do in my family, in my career, in my marriage (I was a newlywed!). I would lose the job I had just gotten. I would lose the baby I was newly pregnant with. I would lose the house I was cleaning, and the doors of the church I was gearing up to serve in and worship at would close. You see, God had a completely different set of plans than the ones that I wrote down! Proverbs 19:21 came to mind;

     “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”

      As I reflect on the pages of my past, I can clearly see that God’s guiding hand was there all along. My daughters were coming. My new marriage would survive. My blended family would work. I would find a career that combined my passion and God’s purpose. New ministry would be birthed.

       But my greatest take-away was this- that many of the concerns and fears that I had written down were unfounded. The tears of fear that wet the pages of those early entries amaze me now, because God never allowed any of those fears to materialize!

As the Holy Spirit drove this home in my heart, I share this with you today; you CAN fully trust God with your tomorrow. Pray this short prayer with me:

      “Lord, I will trust you with this new season. I will trust you with the next chapter, with the next decade- I will trust you with my plans. Even if things don’t turn out my way, I believe that I am safely resting in the palm of your hand. You will set my feet on the right path. Thank you for protecting me, guiding me, and loving me. I know that if I am with you, I am safe. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.”

Proverbs 19:23
